The Winchester Mystery House at 525 S Winchester Blvd was under almost-continuous renovation from about 1884 until Sarah Winchester's death in 1922, producing a labyrinthine Victorian mansion. The building includes well-documented architectural oddities: staircases that terminate at ceilings, interior doors that open onto walls or small drops, and windows that look out onto brick walls. Those features are the documented result of incremental, largely unplanned additions rather than a single unified design; the property now operates as a museum and tourist site.
