Fisher Fine Arts Library (Frank Furness)

Designed by Frank Furness and completed in 1891, the Fisher Fine Arts Library (originally the Furness Library) is celebrated for its muscular Victorian Gothic architecture and inventive use of polychrome brick, carved stone, and iron. The building's asymmetrical massing, recessed arcades, and richly detailed interior spaces mark it as a distinctive example of late 19th-century American academic architecture. It remains in use by the University of Pennsylvania as a library and landmarked architectural work.
