Fort Wayne - 19th‑century river fort

Fort Wayne is a 19th‑century fortification on the Detroit River whose main construction occurred between 1842 and 1851. The site preserves earthwork and masonry defensive structures and historic military buildings, and today is interpreted as Fort Wayne Historical Park. The fort served as a U.S. Army post through the 19th and early 20th centuries and now operates as a museum and public park with regular historic programming.
