War Memorial Opera House

The War Memorial Opera House, completed in 1932, is part of the San Francisco War Memorial and Performing Arts Center and serves as the principal performance venue for the San Francisco Opera and San Francisco Ballet. The building is an example of early-20th-century civic architecture and was constructed as a memorial to World War I servicemembers. It continues to host major opera and ballet productions, as well as special cultural events.
