Hatay State Assembly Building

The Hatay State Assembly Building, located in Cumhuriyet Square, Antakya, Turkey, was a historically significant structure designed by French architect Leon Benju and opened in 1927. Initially a movie theater, it showcased the first sound film of Turkish cinema and later served as a parliament building for the State of Hatay. After a brief return to cinema, it was transformed into a cultural center in 2019. Tragically, the building was largely destroyed during the 2023 Turkey-Syria earthquake, marking the loss of an important piece of local history.
