Spanish Governor's Palace hidden courtyard

The Spanish Governor's Palace, a designated National Historic Landmark in the city's Main Plaza area, contains an enclosed courtyard set behind its street-facing facade that many passersby do not notice. The adobe and stone structure dates to the 18th century and the courtyard helps illustrate Spanish colonial domestic and administrative architecture. The building is interpreted for visitors and preserved as one of the earlier examples of Spanish-era construction in San Antonio.
