Menger Hotel bar - Rough Riders recruitment site

The Menger Hotel, established in 1859 next to the Alamo, contains a bar and dining rooms where Theodore Roosevelt and others recruited volunteers for the Rough Riders in 1898. The hotel's interior preserves 19th- and early-20th-century furnishings and has been documented in historical accounts of the Rough Riders' organization.
