Webster Telephone Exchange Building

The Webster Telephone Exchange Building, located in North Omaha, Nebraska, is a historic site designed by renowned architect Thomas Rogers Kimball. Opened in 1907, it played a crucial role during the recovery efforts following the devastating Easter Sunday Tornado of 1913. The building has strong ties to Omaha's African American history, having served as the headquarters for the Urban League and civil rights leader Whitney Young. In 1976, it was transformed into the Great Plains Black History Museum and was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1977. Although currently closed for renovations, the building remains a significant landmark reflecting the rich cultural heritage of the area.
