Tamminiemi

Tamminiemi is a historic villa and house museum located in Helsinki, Finland, known for its association with President Urho Kekkonen, who resided there from 1956 until his death in 1986. Built in 1904, the villa features Art Nouveau architecture and was originally owned by businessman Jörgen Nissen. It served as an official presidential residence from 1940 to 1982 and is now a museum showcasing Finnish political history, particularly during the presidencies of Ryti, Mannerheim, and Kekkonen. The museum retains its 1970s decor and offers insights into Finland's history from World War II to the early 1980s. Visitors can also explore the famous sauna built by Kekkonen, which hosted notable guests, including Soviet leader Nikita Khrushchev.
