Brush Square (O. Henry Museum / original public square)

Brush Square was designated as one of the four public squares in Edwin Waller's 1839 survey of Austin. The O. Henry Museum occupies a building adjacent to the square and the block at 409 E 5th St sits within the footprint of that original surveyed public space. The site is tied to early urban development patterns established by the 1839 plat.
