Eberhardt Hall, New Jersey Institute of Technology

Eberhardt Hall, the oldest building at the New Jersey Institute of Technology, is a historic site originally built in 1856-57 as the Newark Orphan Asylum. Located in Newark, New Jersey, this stunning example of 19th-century Gothic Victorian architecture features castle-like design elements. The building was designed by John Welch, a notable architect, and was equipped with advanced amenities for its time. After serving various purposes, it was restored in 2005 to function as the NJIT Alumni Center, showcasing its Victorian-era charm with modern updates. Eberhardt Hall is recognized on the National Register of Historic Places and received the prestigious 2006 Donald T. Dust Recognition Award for its restoration efforts.
