Austin Daily Tribune Building

The Austin Daily Tribune Building, a striking example of Moderne architecture, is located at 920 Colorado in Austin, Texas. Originally constructed in 1941 as the headquarters for the Austin Daily Tribune newspaper, which operated for just a year, the building has a rich history. After being acquired by the State of Texas in 1945, it was renamed in honor of Texas Railroad Commissioner Ernest O. Thompson in 1965. Designed by architect Shirley Simons and the Page firm, this historic site was added to the National Register of Historic Places in 2000, making it a noteworthy stop for tourists and researchers interested in Texas history and architecture.
