Smithsonian's National Zoo

The Smithsonian's National Zoo was established in 1889 and is part of the Smithsonian Institution. The zoo's 163-acre campus is located in northwest Washington, D.C., and admission is free. It participates in international conservation and animal care programs and offers public exhibits, research, and education initiatives.
