Canton House

Canton House is a historic office building located in Baltimore, Maryland, showcasing Colonial Revival architecture. Constructed in 1923, it served as the headquarters for the Canton Company, founded by notable engineer Peter Cooper, who is famous for creating the Tom Thumb steam locomotive. The building features a striking façade with marble and Flemish bond brickwork, Corinthian columns, and dormer windows. It is situated near the Patapsco River, an area rich in history, including connections to early trade with China and the founding of the Baltimore and Ohio Railroad. Canton House was added to the National Register of Historic Places in 1978, making it a significant site for both tourists and researchers interested in Baltimore's industrial heritage.
