President's House (Bucknell University)

The President's House, located in Lewisburg, Pennsylvania, is a historic building constructed in 1855 by Reverend Justin R. Loomis, the first president of what is now Bucknell University. Originally purchased by the university in 1878, it has served as the residence for university presidents, beginning with David J. Hill in 1879. The house underwent significant renovations in 1888 and was modernized in 1964, featuring a glassed-in family room and extensive landscaping. In the 21st century, the sunroom was removed, and the exterior was restored to highlight its original red brick. This building not only reflects the architectural evolution of the university but also serves as a symbol of its leadership and history.
