Boston Light - oldest lighthouse station in the United States

Boston Light, located on Little Brewster Island in Boston Harbor, was first established and lit in 1716 and is the oldest continuously used lighthouse station in the United States. The original light was destroyed during the American Revolution and the present tower dates to the late 18th century; the U.S. Coast Guard continues to maintain the light as an active aid to navigation. Boston Light is part of the Boston Harbor Islands and is accessible to the public via scheduled tours and ferry departures organized from the harbor's visitor facilities.
