Indianapolis Athletic Club

Founded in 1886, the Indianapolis Athletic Club became a prestigious private club for Indiana's elite, playing a significant role in local politics and sports. It was one of the first to field a football team in Indiana and hosted early baseball and boxing events. The club's historic clubhouse, designed in Italian Renaissance style, was built between 1922 and 1924 and housed various athletic and social facilities. Although it closed in 2004 and was converted into luxury condominiums, the building remains a notable landmark, added to the National Register of Historic Places in 2015.
