Old Town San Diego State Historic Park - site of the Kumeyaay village Cosoy

The area now preserved as Old Town San Diego State Historic Park was the location of a Kumeyaay village known historically as Cosoy (also spelled Kosa'ay) before Spanish settlement. The Spanish established a presidio and mission adjacent to this village in 1769, and the site remains important for interpreting early contact between Kumeyaay people and Spanish colonizers.
