St Bartholomew's Hospital, located at the foot of Christmas Steps in Bristol, is a historically significant site that dates back to a medieval monastery hospital founded in 1240. This grade II listed building features architectural elements from the 12th century, including an arcade of arches and round piers. Originally serving the poor and travelers, it evolved over the centuries, transitioning from a hospital to Bristol Grammar School and later Queen Elizabeth's Hospital. Notably, archaeological excavations in the 1970s revealed 30 skeletons, providing insights into the medical conditions treated at the hospital. Today, it stands as a testament to Bristol's rich history and architectural heritage.
