San Jose City Hall-Richard Meier modernist civic building

Designed by architect Richard Meier and opened in 2005, San Jose City Hall is a modernist civic building recognized for its light-colored exterior, glass facades, and prominent public plaza. The building and plaza are frequently used for public art installations, civic events, and cultural gatherings, making it a visible contemporary landmark in downtown San Jose. Its design replaced the city's former city hall and reoriented civic space toward Plaza de César Chávez and the downtown core.
