Mimosa Hall (Leigh, Texas)

Mimosa Hall is a historic plantation house built in 1844 by architect John J. Webster in Leigh, Texas. It was the first brick house in Harrison County, constructed using bricks made by enslaved people on the plantation. The estate originally spanned 7,000 acres and features a family cemetery surrounded by an old brick wall. Notably, a quilt made by enslaved individuals from the plantation is part of the American Museum in Britain's collection. Currently, Mimosa Hall is a private residence situated on 150 acres and is listed on the National Register of Historic Places, alongside its sister home in nearby Karnack, Texas, the birthplace of Lady Bird Johnson.
