Wedding Palace, Chernihiv

The Wedding Palace in Chernihiv, Ukraine, is a striking example of Modernist Soviet architecture, completed in 1988 by architect Vyacheslav Pavlyukov. Located on Pushkina Street near key landmarks like the Red Bridge and Bohdan Khmelnytsky Square, this three-story building serves as the Civil State Registration Department. It features various offices, preparation rooms for couples, and two uniquely colored ceremony halls, reflecting a local superstition about the influence of color on the gender of future children. The palace is a popular venue for weddings, with around a thousand couples officially tying the knot each year. While currently under discussion for renovation, it remains a significant cultural site in Chernihiv, open for services throughout the week except Mondays.
