Lick Observatory (Mount Hamilton)

Lick Observatory sits atop Mount Hamilton and was completed in 1888 as a major astronomical research facility operated by the University of California. The observatory's 36-inch refracting telescope was, at the time of installation, one of the largest refractors in the world. The site is notable for its mountain-top domes and has been used for significant astronomical observations and public programs for over a century.
