La Jolla Reading Room

The La Jolla Reading Room, established in 1898, is the first library in La Jolla, California, and a designated historical landmark. Originally located in the heart of La Jolla, it served as a cultural hub for the community, gifted by philanthropist Florence Sawyer in memory of her friends. The Reading Room features Folk Victorian architecture with Mission Revival elements, including a tiled roof and decorative window trims. After several relocations, it now resides on the campus of The Bishop's School, offering visitors a glimpse into the area's rich history and architectural heritage.
