Evan F. Ellis Farmhouse

The Evan F. Ellis Farmhouse, located north of Bussey, Iowa, is a historic residence built in 1913 by Evan F. Ellis, who moved from Illinois with his family to a 120-acre farm. This unique Sears, Roebuck & Co. pre-cut house is notable for its rural setting and features a full-length front porch and hipped roof. After the deaths of Evan and his wife Bertha, their daughter Mary managed the farm until 1974. The house remained in the family and underwent restoration in the 1980s. It was added to the National Register of Historic Places in 1985, making it a significant site for visitors interested in early 20th-century rural architecture and family heritage.
