Seashore Farmers' Lodge No. 767

Seashore Farmers' Lodge No. 767 is a historic building located in coastal South Carolina, constructed around 1915 to serve as a fraternal lodge for African Americans. Founded by local black farmers, the Lodge provided essential services such as insurance and burial assistance to its members. After falling into disuse in the 1950s, it faced significant deterioration until a restoration effort began in 2009, funded in part by the Town of James Island. The Lodge, recognized for its cultural significance, was added to the National Register of Historic Places in 2007, showcasing the vital role of fraternal organizations in the African-American community of the early 20th century. Its architectural features include a lateral gable roof, wood clapboarding, and distinctive wooden shutters.
