PSFS Building (first International Style skyscraper)

Completed in 1932 and designed by architects George Howe and William Lescaze, the PSFS Building is widely regarded as the first International Style skyscraper in the United States. Its steel-frame construction, ribbon windows, and lack of applied historicist ornament marked a departure from earlier high-rise design. The building's rooftop PSFS sign became a Philadelphia landmark, and the structure was later adapted for hotel and residential use while retaining its landmarked exterior and interior features.
