Solomon R. Guggenheim and the Guggenheim Museum

Philanthropist Solomon R. Guggenheim founded the Museum of Non-Objective Painting in 1937, which later evolved into the Solomon R. Guggenheim Museum. The museum's circular building at 1071 Fifth Avenue, designed by Frank Lloyd Wright, opened to the public in 1959 and houses Guggenheim's modern and contemporary art collection.
