Park Street Church

Park Street Church, completed in 1809 and designed by Peter Banner, is a prominent example of early Federal-period ecclesiastical architecture on the edge of Boston Common. Its white steeple was historically a visible city landmark and the church has been associated with 19th-century social movements, including abolitionism and missionary activity. The building's design and prominent siting reflect early American church-building conventions in Boston.
