Big Tex, State Fair of Texas mascot

Big Tex is a 55-foot-tall cowboy statue that has served as the longtime greeter of the State Fair of Texas at Fair Park since the 1950s. The figure originated in 1952 and became an annual symbol of the fair. Big Tex's 2012 fire that destroyed the figure led to a public restoration and a new version unveiled for the 2013 fair season.
