Bowers Mansion

Bowers Mansion, located between Reno and Carson City, Nevada, is a historic mansion built in 1863 by Lemuel 'Sandy' Bowers and his wife Eilley Orrum Bowers during the Comstock Lode mining boom. Designed in a blend of Georgian Revival and Italianate styles, the mansion reflects Eilley's aspirations for prestige, featuring furnishings and art collected during their travels in Europe. After facing financial difficulties, Eilley rented out rooms and hosted events, including a ball for the women's suffrage movement. Today, Bowers Mansion Regional Park offers picnic areas, playgrounds, and seasonal tours of the mansion, which showcases period furniture donated by local families. The park also features geothermal hot springs, enhancing its appeal as a recreational destination.
