Tsongas Center

The Tsongas Center at UMass Lowell is a vibrant multi-purpose facility located in Lowell, Massachusetts, dedicated to the memory of U.S. Senator Paul Tsongas. Opened in 1998, it serves as the home for the UMass Lowell River Hawks ice hockey and basketball teams, as well as the Massachusetts Pirates indoor football team. With a seating capacity of approximately 6,500 for hockey and 7,800 for concerts, the arena hosts a variety of events, including major concerts, job fairs, and graduation ceremonies. Notable performances include those by the Pixies and Drake, and it has been a filming location for the movie 'The Fighter.' The Tsongas Center also hosts significant university events and has undergone extensive renovations since being acquired by UMass Lowell in 2010, enhancing its facilities for both athletes and audiences.
