Frederiksberg Åndsvageanstalt

Frederiksberg Åndsvageanstalt, established in 1855, is a historic former mental health institution for children located in the Frederiksberg district of Copenhagen, Denmark. The main building, designed by Ferdinand Meldahl and completed in 1860, showcases a unique H-shaped floor plan and features striking red and yellow brickwork with Italian Renaissance influences. After its closure in 1970, the site has been repurposed, with the main building now housing the fashion brand By Malene Birger, while another structure has been transformed into a daycare. The area is adjacent to the former Carlsberg brewery, which is undergoing redevelopment into a vibrant new neighborhood, making it an interesting spot for tourists and researchers alike.
