Edificio Grassy

The Edificio Grassy, located at 1 Gran Vía in Madrid, is an architectural gem built between 1916 and 1917, designed by Eladio Laredo. This eclectic building features a striking rotunda and is known for its illuminated advertisements, particularly for luxury watch brands like Rolex. Since 1952, it has housed the upscale Grassy Jeweler's and includes a fascinating museum of ancient clocks from the 16th to 19th centuries. The building's historical significance is highlighted by its depiction in Antonio López's hyperrealist painting 'La Gran Vía' and its connection to the writer Théophile Gautier, who lived nearby in 1840.
