The Carter Coal Company Store, built around 1912 in Coalwood, West Virginia, served as a vital hub for the local community, featuring a store, company offices, and a post office. This historic building was remodeled in 1922 and recognized for its significance by being listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1992. Unfortunately, it was demolished in 2008, but the site now features a gazebo, offering a peaceful spot for visitors to reflect on the area's rich coal mining history.
