Bolands Centre

Bolands Centre, located in Cairns City, Queensland, is a heritage-listed former department store built in 1912, designed by architect Edward Gregory Waters. Originally established by Irish immigrant Michael Boland, it became a prominent retail hub, housing a David Jones store and a well-known toy shop. As the last surviving example of an early 20th-century department store in Cairns, it reflects the city's commercial history and Boland's significant contributions to the local economy and community. The building was added to the Queensland Heritage Register in 2006, making it a notable site for tourists and researchers interested in Queensland's architectural and commercial heritage.
