Massachusetts Avenue Parking Shops

The Massachusetts Avenue Parking Shops, established in 1936, is a historic neighborhood shopping area notable for being one of the first to combine automobile access with shopping through off-street parking. Designed in the modern Colonial Revival style by C. H. Hillegeist, it features a variety of original stores including a grocery, pharmacy, and delicatessen. Recognized for its architectural significance, it was added to the National Register of Historic Places in 2003 and has served as a model for postwar commercial shopping centers.
