Maglekilde

Maglekilde is a historic natural spring located in Roskilde, Denmark, known for being the most powerful of several springs in the area. Originally flowing at 90,000 litres per hour, it now issues 15,000 litres per hour. The site has a rich history, with travertine from the spring used in the construction of local churches in the 11th and 12th centuries. A watermill was established in the 13th century, and the area later became home to a paper and textile mill in the 18th century. Although a spa was built in the 19th century, it struggled to attract visitors and closed after two years. Today, the wellhouse, built in 1927 and listed as a protected building, stands on a parking lot, serving as a reminder of the site's historical significance.
