Howard Theatre (historic performance venue)

The Howard Theatre, originally opened in 1910 on the U Street Corridor, became a major entertainment venue for African American performers during segregation. The theater closed for many years and was restored and reopened in 2012 as a performing arts venue presenting concerts, comedy, and cultural programs. The restored Howard continues to celebrate its historical legacy while hosting contemporary performances.
