Skidmore Fountain - 1888 public fountain in Old Town

Skidmore Fountain was dedicated in 1888 as a public fountain designed to provide drinking water for people and animals in Portland's Old Town. The fountain stands at the east end of Ankeny Plaza and is one of the city's oldest surviving civic monuments. It is a focal point within the Skidmore/Old Town Historic District and is frequently cited in histories of Portland's 19th-century urban infrastructure.
