The Old Stone House and the Battle of Brooklyn site

The Old Stone House in Washington Park, Brooklyn, is a reconstruction of the Vechte–Cortelyou House and marks the site of fighting during the 1776 Battle of Long Island (Battle of Brooklyn). Historical documents and battlefield studies identify the area around the house as the scene of a rearguard action involving American troops under General William Alexander (Lord Stirling) and Colonel William Smallwood. The house and adjacent park are focal points for local commemorations, reenactments, and interpretations of Revolutionary War history in New York City.
