National Atomic Testing Museum - Nevada Test Site exhibits

The National Atomic Testing Museum documents the history of the Nevada Test Site (now the Nevada National Security Site), the federal nuclear weapons testing range established in 1951. The Nevada Test Site, located about 65 miles northwest of Las Vegas, was a restricted government complex where atmospheric and underground nuclear tests were conducted; many operations were classified during the Cold War. The museum, a Smithsonian Affiliate, preserves documents, artifacts, and exhibits that interpret those secretive testing programs for the public.
