Centennial Park Parthenon (replica and Athena statue)

The Parthenon in Nashville is a full-scale replica of the 5th-century Athenian Parthenon built for the 1897 Tennessee Centennial Exposition. The structure functions as Nashville's art museum and contains a 42-foot statue of Athena sculpted by Alan LeQuire, installed in 1990 and gilded in gold leaf. The building was reconstructed in permanent materials in the 1920s and continues to host changing art exhibitions.
