Post Alley Gum Wall

The Gum Wall is a section of Post Alley beneath Pike Place Market that has been covered in chewed gum since the 1990s; the origin of the practice is disputed. Images of the colorful, accumulating gum have circulated widely on social media and made the alley a frequent viral photo spot. The wall was cleaned by the Pike Place Market Preservation & Development Authority in November 2015, but gum quickly reaccumulated and the site continues to attract visitors and online sharing.
