The YWCA Building in Fresno, California, is a historic structure designed by Julia Morgan, the first female architect licensed in the state. Completed in 1922, this Italian Villa style building served as a residential facility for women and has a rich history tied to the local YWCA, founded in 1904. Over the years, it has evolved from providing affordable housing to focusing on domestic violence support, becoming the Marjoree Mason Center in 1979. The building features a unique blend of Italian Renaissance Revival and Spanish Renaissance Revival architecture and was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1978. Today, it continues to serve the community with various programs and services for women.
