Pizzurno Palace

The Pizzurno Palace, also known as Sarmiento Palace, is a stunning architectural landmark located in the Recoleta neighborhood of Buenos Aires, Argentina. Originally commissioned in the late 19th century as an educational facility per the wishes of heiress Petronila Rodríguez de Rojas, the building showcases an eclectic design influenced by Second Empire and Renaissance Revival architecture. Completed in 1888, it served as a school before becoming the headquarters for the National Education Council in 1903. Today, it houses the Argentine Ministry of Education and is surrounded by the tranquil Rodríguez Peña Plaza, making it a picturesque spot for visitors. The palace is named after Domingo Sarmiento, a key figure in Argentine education, while the adjacent street honors educator Pablo Pizzurno, reflecting the building's rich educational heritage.
