Blackfriars Rotunda

The Blackfriars Rotunda was a notable building in Southwark, London, operational from 1787 to 1958. Initially housing the Leverian Museum, it became a hub for radical political activities in the 1830s. Designed by James Parkinson, the Rotunda featured a unique circular gallery and served various purposes over the years, including as a theatre and concert hall. It was a gathering place for social reformers and hosted diverse events, from lectures to music performances. Despite its vibrant history, the building was ultimately demolished in 1958, marking the end of an era for this significant cultural landmark.
