Blackstone Building (Tyler, Texas)

The Blackstone Building, an Art Deco masterpiece constructed in 1938, stands as a historic landmark in Tyler, Texas. Designed by architect Preston M. Geren, this six-story structure was built to accommodate the growing demand for office space during the East Texas oil boom, hosting various businesses including oil companies and legal firms. It was recognized on the National Register of Historic Places in 2002 and continues to serve as office space, currently housing the Tyler Chamber of Commerce. Notably, it was also the site of the Union Bus Terminal from its opening until the 1950s. Despite the demolition of the adjacent Blackstone Hotel in 1985, the building remains a significant part of Tyler's architectural heritage.
