William Sydney Porter House

The William Sydney Porter House, also known as the O. Henry Museum, is a historic site located in Downtown Austin, Texas. This charming cottage, built in 1886, served as the residence of the famous author O. Henry from 1893 to 1895. The house is a notable example of Eastlake Style architecture and was added to the National Register of Historic Places in 1973. After being saved from demolition in the 1930s, it was relocated and restored to showcase period pieces, including some of O. Henry's personal belongings. Visitors can explore the museum and participate in the annual O. Henry Pun-Off, a unique pun competition held every May, celebrating the literary legacy of this iconic writer.
