Coors Field opening and altitude effect

Coors Field opened on April 26, 1995 as the home ballpark of Major League Baseball's Colorado Rockies. The Rockies began play as an expansion franchise in 1993 and moved into Coors Field when it opened in 1995. The ballpark sits in downtown Denver at roughly 5,200 feet above sea level, and that elevation is widely cited as contributing to higher-scoring games and elevated home run rates compared with lower-elevation MLB parks.
